The slab for the new Fed Ex Ground Distribution Center is being poured this week.  It's another milestone in a great project.  A picture of the finished product is below.  Fed Ex is expected to open the facility in July 2014.

And now there is an even better reason to CHOOSE LINDALE.  State lawmakers have approved a plan to offer tax incentives to companies that open data centers throughout the state, as part of a move to attract more technology companies and capital investment to Texas. 

Texas has long been a preferred location for large data centers given its central location, economic climate, reliable electric grid, historically low occurrences of natural disasters, educated workforce and pro-business environment.  However, the state has fallen behind in competitiveness.  The new incentives should push Texas back to the top.

The law provides a sales tax exemption for electricity consumption and equipment purchases, such as servers, generators, storage devices, software and other systems necessary for data center operations. The incentives will take effect Sept. 1.

MW Builders, construction company for the developer of the Fed Ex distribution center in Lindale Industrial Park has started construction.  Trees were cleared last week.  This week dirt movers are leveling up the site.  It's great to see action in the park.

In addition, Hawley Disposal Service has been clearing land for two easements for electric, water and natural gas utilities.  This work is about done.
