Lindale is in the Piney Woods region of east Texas. When people think of Texas, they often visualize wide-open spaces spiked with cactus as far as the eye can see. But if you're searching for scrub brush and tumbleweeds, you'll be disappointed. Instead, you'll be dazzled at the beauty and majesty that awaits you here.
The East Texas Piney Woods Region contains thousands of acres of pine and pine-hardwood forests. Visitors will find a variety of loblolly, shortleaf and some pockets of longleaf pine, as well as magnolia, elm, oak, ash, cypress and other trees. The region boasts the state's four national forests and five state forests. For outdoor enthusiasts, this region is also home to many state parks and bodies of water that offer fun and enjoyment.
The grandeur of towering trees and eye-popping landscapes can be seen year-round, but this area is dominated by breathtaking colors during the fall when the sassafras, persimmon, maples, sweetgums, dogwoods, elms and oaks can generally be counted on to offer up hues of golden brown, yellow, orange, red and even reddish-purple. It is quite beautiful in the spring, too. Azaleas and dogwoods in bloom are occasions to celebrate.
Parts of East Texas exude a feeling of being in the Old South. Venerable plantation homes and graceful mansions contribute to this impression. The area is rich in Texas history too. Texas' oil history can be seen in nearby attractions and museums.

The “Interstate Highway 20 Corridor,” which links the East Texas region with Dallas and Shreveport, which are in turn linked with Austin, San Antonio and Houston is the major transportation lifeline.
Interstate 20 is also a coast to coast highway, through it's connection to Interstate 10 in west Texas. Interstate 30 is another east west route. Major north south highways in the region are US 69 and US 59. The intersection of US 69 and Interstate 20 is the highest traffic intersection on I-20 between Terrell and the Texas/Louisiana state line.
